What is the MAB?
The MAB is short for Merit Awards Board and the board is responsible for conferring university-recognized awards to Keviians for their service to the hall. The much anticipated MAB Awards are presented annually to deserving Keviians who have brought great contribution to the various core sectors of King Edward VII Hall.
Who makes up the MAB?
The MAB is made up of seniors who were active hall leaders or members. This year, the MAB is headed by Soo Wai Kit. The members of the MAB are as follows:

What are the awards given out by the MAB?
The awards are as follows:
  • Outstanding Student Leader in Administration and Management
  • Outstanding Student Leader in Cultural Activities
  • Outstanding Student Leader in Sports
  • Outstanding Freshman of the Year (Male/Female)
  • Long Service Award with Merit
  • Alumni Appreciation Award
  • Certificate of Merit in Administration and Management
  • Certificate of Merit in Cultural Activities
  • Certificate of Merit in Sports
Who is eligible for the awards?
For the Outstanding Student Leader Awards, the Long Service Awards, and the Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award, all who are or were residents of KE in the academic year of 07/08 are eligible.
How does nomination work?
Nominations are made by residents or the MAB. Nomination period starts from the 19th to the 22nd of February 2008. Nomination forms can be obtained at the office during office hours and are to be submitted at the office as well.
What are the criteria for nomination of the awards?
  • Outstanding student leader in Cultural Activities
    • Has made outstanding contribution in a field of culture under consideration
    • Possesses considerable talent in the field of culture under consideration.
    • Whose contributions have made a difference or raised the standard of culture in the hall.
    • Has helped other Keviians improve their artistic standards.
  • Outstanding student leader in Administration and Management
    • Has made outstanding contribution in the field of administration in the hall.
    • Possesses considerable skill in the specific area under consideration.
    • Left a positive impact to be inherited by juniors
  • Outstanding student leader in Sports
    • Possesses considerable talent in the sports under consideration.
    • Whose contributions have made a difference or raised the standard of sports in the hall.
    • Has helped other Keviians improve their skills
  • Outstanding Freshman of the Year
    • The winners for Outstanding Freshman would be one male and one female.
    • Should be full of initiative, enthusiastic, sociable and approachable.
    • Should have contributed significantly to the hall, as well as inspiring hall spirit and loyalty towards the hall.
    • Should also have actively participated in at least 4 activities in the hall.
  • Long Service Award with Merit
    • The respective hall resident should be in a certain hall activity for at least 3 years and has significant contribution towards hall.
    • Any person who was previously conferred a Long Service Award for the identical activity will be disqualified.
How will the award recipients be judged?
The nominees will be judged through online voting (that is open to all current Keviians) and concurrent deliberation by the MAB. Online voting starts from the 27th of February until 5th of March. However, online voting will not be carried out for the Long Service Award and the Alumni Appreciation Award.
When will the awards be given out?
The award presentation ceremony will be held during the Dinner and Dance 07/08, on the night of 22nd March 2008.
